Daniel Maurice Gabbard of Armona passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Dan was born in Modesto and resided in Corcoran for over 60 years.

Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) and the California State Assembly honored Mary Gonzales-Gomez as the 2017 Woman of the Year for the 32nd Assembly District. Assemblymember Salas recognized GonzalesGomez during the annual Assembly floor ceremony for her long-standing community service throughout Kings County. The ceremony was held Monday.
The city is poised to spend almost $450,000 in grant money on transit department projects. The city council approved a resolution last week allowing the transit department to move ahead with the proposal.
Services were held Feb. 22 for Rodolfo Canales Pina, 44, who died Feb. 17 in Corcoran.
Ricardo Montoy Jr. of Corcoran has continued his soccer career after playing for four years at Corcoran High School. Montoy, who plays goalkeeper and was an East Sequoia League all-league pick while a Panther, played for two years at Taft College.
Jacqulyn Kay (Doran) White died at home in Laton, CA on Feb. 7, after a two-and-a-half year battle with brain cancer. She was 58 years old.

Mass services was held Feb. 9 (Thursday) at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for Georgina L. Becerra, 44, who died Jan. 28 in Hanford.
Corcoran Unified School District recently named its top employees for the 2016-2017 school year. The district selects an administrator, a teacher, a classified employee and also selects a volunteer of the year. The winners were selected from a list of nominees. Corcoran’s selections will be submitted to the Kings County Office of Education as consideration for employees of the year for the county.
