CHS blood drive

Corcoran High School will hold a blood drive Friday, May 22 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The Central California Blood Center Bloodmobile will be in the school parking lot. All donors will receive a free t-shirt.

Kings County Homecoming Week was in full swing last week, with activities culminating in Saturday’s parade in downtown Hanford. Representing Corcoran in the event was Carol and Richard Garcia, recently named Corcoran’s Homecoming queen and king.

Salas wants 43 to receive funds

Assemblyman Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) has announced that his Assembly Bill 1043 passed the Assembly floor. The bill would add State Route 43 to the Interregional Road System (IRRS) and would make it eligible to compete for project funding in the Interregional Transportation Improvement Program (ITIP).

Phone scam is investigated

There’s a phone scam in play in Kings County. Beginning May 1, the Kings County Sheriff’s Department started receiving calls from concerned citizens regarding a scam allegedly involving the department.

CHS swim finishes second

The Corcoran High School swim team competed at the East Sequoia League championships, which were held last Friday in Woodlake. Both the varsity boys’ and varsity girls’ teams brought home a second place finish in league.

Rosa George

Services were held at 10 a.m. at New Hope Fellowship for Rosa Ilene George, 75, who was born in Kiowa, Oklahoma on January 3, 1940 to Frank and Cora Casey. She passed away in Corcoran May 4.
