Corcoran Journal’s holiday office hours
The Corcoran Journal office will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.
New immunization law
Corcoran Unified School District wants its parents to know that under the new law, SB 277 which begins Jan. 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California.
City residents need to recycle
Corcoran residents have had three refuse cans for several years. However, it appears the blue cans—those used for recycling—are not getting the attention they need.

Rosa Maria Molina was born December 15, 1942 in Corcoran. She passed away after a brief illness on December 8, 2015, at her home with family by her side.
Christmas Eve service
A candle light Christmas Eve service will be held Thursday, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, which is located at 1101 Letts Avenue.
Cookie, fudge contest winners
The Corcoran Journal and Corcoran Chamber cookie and fudge contest winners were chosen last week. The cookie contest was decided by just one point and taking home first place was Tiffany Singleton who submitted snickerdoodles. In second place in the cookie contest was Patti Rodriguez who won with her Raspberry Ribbon Cookies.

Resurrection Ministries Church is having a free Christmas dinner for the community.
Cadets peek into their future

The roar of F-15 fighter aircraft engines drown the conversations of Corcoran students as they receive a briefing from weapons specialists who prepare an aircraft for its night sortie mission. No, this isn’t an overseas mission we sent our students on, but a peek into the future for some of Corcoran High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) cadets.
