The Corcoran High girls’ tennis team picked up a pair of road wins this past week and improved to 5-0 in league play (8-0, overall).

Clean up changes
The city is hosting its annual Fall Clean-Up Oct. 1-8. This year, eligible residents who receive trash, green waste and recycle services within the City of Corcoran and Corcoran fringe area must present a voucher when entering the Kings Waste and Recycle facility.

The Corcoran Chamber of Commerce is accepting vendors for the upcoming annual Cotton Festival which will be held Saturday, Oct. 1

The 56th annual Corcoran Chamber of Commerce Cotton Festival is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 1. There will be a wide variety of activities and events for the whole family to enjoy.
Water rate hearing
Local municipal water users have until Tuesday, Sept. 27, to protest proposed modifications in city water rates. Rates are expected to decrease for some users, while dramatically increasing for others.
Lion’s Club Ruger raffle
The Corcoran Lions Club is holding a Ruger Takedown Drawing which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Bill Kemble Hall at the Lions Club House.
CHS volleyball beats Orosi, Farmersville
The Corcoran High Lady Panther varsity volleyball team won their last two games against Orosi and Farmersville.
Support for Measure K
Public safety appears to be under siege lately, with budget cutbacks and changes in criminal accountability forming a perfect storm to make the job even more difficult. Law enforcement and fire officials across Kings County hope Measure K will help them provide the basic safety measures residents should be able to expect.
Cross country faces top teams
The Corcoran High cross country team competed in the Kingsburg two-mile race Saturday. Once again they faced several Top 15 teams.
