Mass services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for Manuel S. Rodriquez, 81, who died Oct. 7 at his home.
Ann Louise Kraman
Ann Louise Kraman was born in Des Moines, IA on September 27, 1937 to Herbert and Eva Anset. She passed away in Hanford October 2, 2017 with her son by her side. She was 80.

Bobby James Hodge, 62, died Sept. 24 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Sgt. Pedro Castro honored

Sgt. Pedro Castro of the Corcoran Police Department was recognized Friday, Sept. 22nd, at the Hanford Chamber Public Safety Appreciation Luncheon for his dedication and commitment to the youth of Corcoran.
City’s cannabis conundrum
The local city council has not yet made a final decision on how it will treat the cannabis business, which as approved by voters, will be allowed at the beginning of the new year. It appears the majority of the council favors the growth and distribution industries, while none of the council wants the community to be burdened by cannabis dispensaries.
City to seek public input on rate hike
The city will soon be looking for public input into a pair of proposed utility rate increases, one for refuse (garbage) pick-up and another for the local sewer rate. The issue was discussed last week, when the city council received an enterprise funds report from IGService, the same company that prepared the rate increase report for the water department portion of the city utility bill last year.
Two downtown robberies occur
A pair of robberies in the downtown area occurred within five days and is keeping the Corcoran Police Department at high alert as investigations continue.
Robert Wayne “Bob” Barnett

Robert Wayne “Bob” Barnett, 77, of Marianna, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017. He was born Sunday, November 26, 1939 to Maurice W. Barnett and Lois Johnson Barnett Duke in Marianna, Arkansas. Mr. Barnett was a former resident of Corcoran and he worked for the J.G. Boswell Company until retirement.
Sgt. Chavarria graduates from leadership program

The Corcoran Police Department has announced that Sergeant Alex Chavarria graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI) on Friday, September. 15, in Valencia.
