
Corcoran High School’s team will put all their hard work on the line this week as they compete in the Kings County Academic Decathlon. They will take the home team advantage, as the program will be held Saturday at the high school’s Technology Learning Center.
This year’s theme is New Alternatives in Energy: Ingeniity and Innovation. Several academic areas are covered, including interview, speech and essay in the theme area as well as science, literature, art, music, social science, economics and mathematics.
This week’s scores will be added to those gained by each team next week, when the objective test and super quiz take place.This Saturday is closed to the public and is expected to run from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. Next week, competition is open to the public and will once again start at 7:30 p.m., ending with awards at about 6 p.m.
Students can medal and earn scholarships in every area of academic competition. The overall winning team earns the right to represent Kings County at the state level.
