Kings Lake Education Center held their adult school commencement ceremony last Tuesday at the Technology Learning Center.

 

There were 18 graduates who participated in the ceremony. Brooke Blowers gave the flag salute while Tryze Liggins gave the commencement speech. Adult School teacher Takeera Mack had her aunt Karen Edwards sing the National Anthem.

 

he Class of 2015 included Blowers, Liggins, Michael John De La Torre, Juan M Figueroa Jr., Ernesto Sotelo Galindo Jr., Willie Rodriguez Garcia, Freddie Gomez, Carlos Benjamin Gonzalez, David P. Nevarez, Marysela Ordaz, Adrian Ricardo Ramos, Victoria Rios, Maria Virginia Rivera, Stephanie Rocio Rojas, Marisol Sanchez, Paulina Silva, Eric Soliz and Alma Delia Wences.

 

Keith Airheart is the Kings Lake Education Center’s site administrator said his students were determined to obtain their diploma.

 

“These adult students utilized perseverance, tenacity and great courage in continuing their education in order to obtain their diplomas.  Tryze Liggins did a wonderful job as one of the class representatives.  Tryze welcomed the audience and gave an inspiring speech titled “The Road”,” Airheart added. “Wearing her cowgirl boots, Brooke Blowers was another student representative and led us proudly with our Pledge of Allegiance.  The singing of the “Nation Anthem” by Karen Edwards was inspirational, with myself and many others getting the chills during her performance.”

 

Airheart went on to praise Mack who he said gave an inspiring invocational and for all the time and energy she devoted to making the ceremony a wonderful memory for the graduates.  And, Airheart noted that Superintendent, Rich Merlo, all of the CUSD board members Robert Alcorn, Mary Wadsworth, Mary Gonzales-Gomez, Karen Frey and Bobby Toney, as well as district office personnel and Kings Lake staff were in attendance. 

 

“Mindy Figueroa is a staff member at Kings Lake who helped us during our graduation rehearsal.  Mrs. Figueroa’s husband, Juan M. Figueroa Jr. was one of our graduates,” commented Airheart.“Thank you and congratulations to their family.”
