Albert F. Kessler, Jr., a longtime resident of Corcoran, passed away at his home Sunday, Aug. 21, at the age of 94.
Kessler served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a master sergeant in the National Guard, worked for the Forestry Service, was Madera County Fire Chief and was the Fire Chief for the City of Corcoran for many years. He also worked at the J.G. Boswell Company as chief security officer.
He was named Corcoran’s man of the year in 1973 and was a longtime participant in local veterans’ organizations. Mr. Kessler donated the veterans’ memorial that stands at the Corcoran cemetery.
Mr. Kessler is survived by his wife, Alice J. Kessler; children, Florence, Barbara, Harold, June, Bill, Nancy and Carol; four grandchildren, and numerous friends.
Visitation was held at Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel, Thursday, Aug. 25. Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 26 at Corcoran District Cemetery.
