Now that the 50th Super Bowl has come and gone, the banter on television and the radio airwaves will turn to Peyton Manning’s retirement and his ranking among the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks of all time. Where will NFL historians place Manning among todays best QBs like Brady, Rogers and Brees and the past great names like Elway, Montana and Unitas? Manning will surely be a first ballot Hall of Famer like Montana, Elway and Unitas five years after hanging up his cleats.

Melissa Juarez grew up in Visalia. She attended California State University – Fresno where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies and masters in education and counseling. Prior to working at CUSD, she worked in behavioral intervention.

This is not a good-bye, but a sincere thank you. First of all, I want to give thanks to God for allowing me to be a pharmacist, bringing me to Corcoran and giving me the opportunity to serve all the great people of Corcoran.

BECK, BENJAMIN WALDON, CAPT, USMC (RET). Captain Beck passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015. He was laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

Freshman makes history

Corcoran High School freshman Joe Romero qualified for the California State Championships over the weekend. Romero competed at the Central Section Masters tournament at East Bakersfield High in the 132 pound weight division. Romero needed to place in the top 10 to advance to the State Championships and he brought home a ninth place medal.

Irvin “Little Irvy” Mulanax, 95, of Tulare, passed away peacefully in Visalia after a brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, February 9th.
