Billie Byrne passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the age of 86 with her family beside her.
Billie was born to Sacramento and Mary Bloyed Bynum on February 24, 1936 in Fayetteville. Arkansas. Her family moved to Corcoran, California in 1940. Billie attended local schools and graduated from CHS with the class of 1954.
Upon graduation, Billie began working as a skilled and dedicated bookkeeper/receptionist in town and toward the end of her career she worked as a weighmaster. She loved working with numbers and helping others in any way that she could.
Billie lived an ordinary life extraordinarily. She loved people, especially her family and friends. Her friendly, outgoing personality made her easy to talk with. Through the years, Billie took an active role in both of her daughters’ education. In her free time, Billie loved playing bingo, board game and cards, especially canasta which in card contests she often took home first prize. She loved hosting home parties and always served her signature rum cake with sherbet punch on her glass snack sets. Billie was always up for a road trip and she could tent camp with the best! Her specialty meals and baking were enjoyed by many and, in her younger years, she did lovely needle work and crocheted many baby booties. Billie will live on in all of our laughter.
Billie is survived and was cherished by her daughters, Karen Konik and Mary (Alex) Pena; as well as Grandchildren Weston Konik, Siara (Alfredo) Herrera, Ian Byrne, Anthony and Zachary Pena and her Great-Grandson Mario Calderon. All of whom Billie loved dearly and doted on in her special way.
She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Bynum, Sister, Maxine Whitehill, and sister-in-law Sallie (Holly) Johnson; nieces, Navette Shirakawa, Lisa Synder, Staci Merrill; nephews, George and Kenley Shirakawa, David, Christopher and Anthony Whitehill; and her former husband, Michael Byrne.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in passing by her mother and father-in-law Kathryn and Paul Byrne, her dear sister JoAnn Shirakawa, her brother-in-law George Shirakawa, her sister-in-law Betty Bynum, her brother-in-law David Whitehill, her son-in-law Joseph Konik and her great- grandniece Catalina Shirakawa.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Corcoran Cemetery.
