Mass services were held Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Hanford for Carlos Garcia Guzman, who died Jan. 19.
Mr. Guzman was born December 11, 1952 in Hanford. He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a correctional officer for 22 years. He was very proud of our country. He worked in a building close to the flagpole, so daily he would go out in the evening, take the flag down and properly fold it.Carlos loved his family and friends including nephews and nieces. He loved music, especially Tejano music and he was a DJ for a few years with his nephews. His DJ name was Variety DJ. Carlos was very helpful in many ways. In addition to working with the prison, he worked at the unemployment office, Welfare office, Proteus, and most helpful with families with their applications for immigration papers or other benefits. On weekends he spent most of the days watching football, college or professional, it didn’t matter who was playing he just wanted to watch it. He also loved to work on wood projects. He created many beautiful items.Survivors include his loving wife, Dalila whom he had been married to for 28 years; his children, Thalia, Karena and Carlos Guzman; and his siblings, Manuel, Johnny, Tony, Angie, Mary and Florence.He was preceded in death by his parents Bernardino Guzman and Eluteria Garcia Guzman, his brothers Cruz, Joe and Guadalupe and his sister Emily.Visitation was held at Bledsoe Family Peoples Funeral Chapel February 5 from 3-6 p.m. with Rosary at 5 p.m. Following mass services interment was at Corcoran District Cemetery.
