Mass services were held May 4 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for Catalina “Katie” Renteria Gomez, 94, who died April 28 in Corcoran.

Mrs. Gomez was born Feb. 13, 1924 in LaVerne, California to Ramon Renteria and Margarita Padilla Renteria. She married Roman Gomez when she was very young. Together they had six children—their first child Mary passed away at birth.
Katie enjoyed life and she enjoyed selling Avon and working at her home as a wonderful homemaker of 78 years. Katie will be remembered for her loving ways, always having her door open to friends, a meal on the table and a listening ear. Although she had only five children of her own to raise, it was as though she was a mom, grandma and friend to so many other people. Although she was very strict with her children; it was only to teach them to be wonderful and productive adults.
Survivors include her children Raul Gomez, Berdie Gomez, Margie Gormley, Roman Gomez Jr. and Debbie G. Burden; her siblings, Frank Renteria, Trini Renteria, Mary Rodriguez and Rosa Bustos; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Gomez, who died October 15, 1994.
Visitation was held May 3 from 3-6 p.m. at the Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel. A rosary was held May 3 at 7 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Following mass services, interment was held at Calvary Cemetery in Hanford.
