The 9th annual Springfest and Aftershock Car Show which was scheduled for Saturday, May 16 in downtown Corcoran has been postponed due to COVID-19. Currently a new date has yet to be determined.

Senior scam seminar
t’s a sad fact that one in five seniors will be a victim of fraud and criminals who target the elderly are always developing new scams to catch a vulnerable senior. Over the next several weeks Assemblyman Rudy Salas will be hosting multiple free educational Senior Scam Stopper Seminars in partnership with the California Contractors State License Board.
Road work on Whitley Avenue continues
Those who drove down Whitley Ave. last week most likely noticed the trench in the middle of the road. The four-inch deep trench was four-feet wide and extended from Dairy Ave. east to Wigdal Ave., just short of downtown and about 1,700 feet long.
Cotton Tour
Eleven cotton producers from the Southeast will observe cotton and other agricultural operations in California’s San Joaquin Valley the week of August 13 as part of the National Cotton Council’s 2018 Producers Information Exchange (PIE) program.

Two weeks ago, the Corcoran High Future Farmers of America (FFA) Livestock show team hosted the very first ‘Farm fair and family BBQ’ at the school farm.
Father Wyatt Park updated
THE CITY OF CORCORAN held a ribbon cutting at Father Stephen Wyatt Park which is located at 900 Flory Avenue in Corcoran. Major improvements were recently completed at the park and it is ready to be enjoyed by local residents. Some of the improvements done include new playground equipment, upgrades to the bathroom–new doors with electric strike-timer and paint, and work done to improve the baseball field. All the work totalled nearly $60,000 which were paid for by the Housing Related Parks Grant from Housing and Community Development. Among those shown above are City Councilmembers Jeanette Zamora-Bragg, Mayor Ray Lerma, Pat Nolen and Sid Palmerin and City Manager Dr. Kindon Meik.
