It was the first swim meet of the season for the Corcoran High swim team and the squad posted a win and turned in 24 personal best times, according to Coach Sarah Howard.

“All the swimmers came out strong and pushed hard for this win and we are going to use this momentum to get ready for our swim meet against Strathmore,” Howard said.

 

The girls that led the meet for Corcoran High School were freshman Savanah Nolan, sophomore Giselle Martinez, and senior Emily Phillips who each scored 16 points for CHS. Following close behind was Alexis Lerma who scored 11 points for the team. The varsity girls beat Fowler High School by over 40 points.

 

Varsity girls’ results are as follows:

 

–200 Medley Relay- Giselle Martinez, Savanah Nolan, Emily Phillips, and Alexis Lerma first.

 

–200 freestyle- Savanah Nolan, first, Tatiana Gamboa second and Francesca Garcia third.

 

–200 Individual Medley Giselle Martinez first, Haley Zavala third.

 

–50 Freestyle Alexis Lerma second, Samantha Matson third.

 

–100 Butterfly – Savanah Nolan first, Simran Dulai third.

 

–100 Freestyle – Emily Phillips first, Haley Zavala third.

 

–500 Freestyle – Samantha Matson second, Ashley Mejia third.

 

–200 Freestyle Relay – Ashley Meja, Francesca Garcia, Haley Zavala, Samantha Matson second place.

 

–100 Backstroke – Giselle Martinez first, Alexis Lerma third.

 

–100 Breaststroke – Emily Phillips first, Simran Dulai second, Francesca Garcia third.

 

–400 Freestyle Relay – Alexis Lerma, Giselle Martinez, Savanah Nolan, Emily Phillips first place.

 

The top three swimmers for the boys’ team were sophomore Seth Gregory and juniors Morgan Meik and Jonathan Granada. All three scored 16 points each. David Nava and Juan Sandoval scored 11 points apice for the Panthers. The CHS boys beat Fowler by over 60 points.

–200 Medley Relay– Seth Gregory, Jonathan Granada, Morgan Meik and Juan Sandoval, first place; and David Nava, Aldo Garcia, Vance Frey, Rudolph Barrera, second place.

 

–200 Freestyle – Jonathan Granada, first.

 

–200 Individual Medley – Morgan Meik, first, Vance Frey, second place and Juan Sandoval, third.

 

–50 Freestyle –Kris King, third place.

 

–100 Butterfly – Seth Gregory, first, David Nava, third.

 

–100 Freestyle – Jonathan Granada, first, Juan Sandoval, second place.

 

–500 Freestyle – Morgan Meik, first, Aldo Garcia, third.

 

–200 Freestyle Relay – Aldo Garcia, Rudy Barrera, Vance Frey, David Nava, second place.

 

–100 Backstroke – David Nava, first place, Kris King, third.

 

–100 Breaststroke – Seth Gregory, first, Aldo Garcia, second.

 

–400 Freestyle Relay – Seth Gregory, Juan Sandoval, Morgan Meik, Jonathan Granada, first place.

 

Corcoran will be on the road the next three weeks traveling to Strathmore, Granite Hills and Lindsay. They will host their next home meet Thursday, April 16 against Sierra Pacific. Home meets are held at 4 p.m. at the Corcoran Aquatics Complex at the Recreation Association of Corcoran.

The cookie contest was decided by just one point and taking home first place was Tiffany Singleton who submitted snickerdoodles.
