Local residents can make mom happy this year by cleaning up around the home. And it’s free! The City of Corcoran will be hosting its annual Spring Clean-Up for an entire week, beginning May 2 and ending Mother’s Day, May 10.

The refuse must be hauled to Kings Waste and Recycling, located at Highway 43 and Hanford-Armona Road. The dump will be open each day between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.


All City of Corcoran and Corcoran fringe-area residents can participate. They must show a current city utility bill and a photo ID in order to dump free of charge. An alternative to the utility bill will be available at city hall.


Items that will be accepted include:


–Leaves, brush, and lawn clippings;


–Auto parts and tires;


–Small household appliances;


–Air conditioners and refrigerators; and


–E-waste, including television sets, stereos and computers.


Items that cannot go to the dump include:


–Car bodies;


–Broken concrete; and


–Nuclear waste or explosives.


Household hazardous waste will be accepted on Saturday, May 9, only, and can include household pesticides and herbicides, thinners, bleaches and paints.
