On Thursday, June 10, 2021, at approximately 1957 hours, Corcoran Police Officers contacted Mark Sanchez at a residence in the 1200 block of Hanna Avenue. Sanchez is currently on probation and is supervised by the Kings County Probation Department. Officers conducted a probation compliance search of the residence and an AR-15 style rifle was located. Sanchez is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior criminal convictions and his probation status. The rifle located did not depict any markings or serial numbers and had a fully loaded high capacity magazine. Along with the rifle officers also located additional ammunition. During questioning Sanchez admitted to purchasing and possessing the rifle. Sanchez was arrested and transported to the Kings County Jail for being in violation of numerous firearm related charges as well as a probation hold. Mark is currently being held is without bail due to his probation violation. This investigation iS part of a larger special enforcement program Corcoran Police Department has been carrying out for several weeks in an effort to reduce the increasing violence that we had been experiencing in the City. This special enforcement program is ongoing and Corcoran Police Department is committed to having a positive impact on reducing gang and gun violence.
