For those making summer plans, Corcoran Unified School District has already announced its calendar for the 2016-17 school year. Plans need to include having kids back for the start of school on Aug. 15.

Teachers will actually report to work Aug. 9, for four days of inservice before the actual school year commences. After that students can plan their first day off, with Labor Day on Sept. 5.
Other highlights of the calendar include:
–Veterans Day holiday, Friday, Nov. 11;
–Thanksgiving holiday, Nov. 23-25;
–Winter break Dec. 19-31 and Jan. 1-8;
–Spring break, April 10-17;
–Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 16;
–Lincoln’s birthday, Feb. 13;
–Washington’s birthday, Feb. 20;
–Memorial Day, May 23.
The school year will officially end June 2, 2017.
Staff development days will continue throughout the year on Wednesdays, with students in kindergarten through fifth grade having an early out; and students in sixth through 12th grades having a late start each week. Minimum days have been scheduled for Dec. 16 and June 2. The first semester will consist of 85 days and the second semester will be 95 days in length.
