A Celebration of Life was held on November 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Tulare Church of the Nazarene.
It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest. Hebrews 6:19-20
Damon Joe Ashford born in Corcoran, California on August 2, 1951 to Bryan and Alta Mae Ashford passed suddenly on October 16, 2021 in Los Osos, California.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Bryan and Alta Mae Ashford, brother Ray Ashford, and sister Dixie Ashford.
He leaves behind his wife/friend/companion of 51 years Luella Ashford. His children Aaron Ashford, Joy Ashford, and Jennie (Seth) Richmond. And his seven grandchildren Noah Ashford, Ty Ashford, Noelle Samuels, Emma Samuels, Luella Richmond, Torin Richmond, and Adeon Richmond. And his brothers John (Betty) Ashford, Richard (Sandy) Ashford, sisters Chris Gilpin, Patricia (Roger) Daniels, Kathy Jones, sister-in-law Ruth Ashford; and many nephews and nieces.
Damon Joe Ashford (Dad) grew up in Corcoran, CA with 7 brothers and sisters. After graduating from Corcoran HS in 1969 he attended Grambling State University on a football scholarship. He married the love of his life Luella (Gilton) Ashford on August 22, 1970. They eventually relocated back to California, initially settling in Ceres. While in Ceres they started their family and Dad started his career with Thrifty’s, he worked for Thrifty’s/Rite Aid until 2006 in various stores in Tulare, Visalia, Corcoran, and Lindsay.
It is hard to put into summary our Dad’s life, it was big, and it was full. He lived well and loved us well. He didn’t want us to be sad or have a sad service but a celebration of his life well lived.
