Dorothy Catherine McDonald was born June 10, 1920 in Tulare, CA. She passed away in her home at the age of 97 on July 21, 2017.
Dorothy graduated from Tulare High School in 1938. Dorothy married and had two sons Tom and Ron. She was a loving wife and mother. Dorothy saw to it that her sons both graduated from Stanford prior to her continuing her own education. While working during the day, Dorothy attended classes at night at College of the Sequoias and later graduating from Fresno State in 1972. She taught elementary education at Bret Harte until her retirement in 1988. Dorothy was very involved in the community. In 2013 she was Kings County Homecoming Queen, she was a member of the Thursday Club, Optimist Club, Red Hat Society, and Historical Society. She is survived by her son, Tom McDonald and wife Pauline of Shingletown, CA, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church Of Epiphany at 1001 Dairy Ave. Interment will be at Corcoran Cemetery. A reception will follow at the RAC Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel.
