Esperanza Silguero Gomez was born in Stebledejas, Texas on January 24, 1942. On January 2, 2016 she “met her goal, to see Jesus face to face”. She was blessed with 73 years here to love her family and serve the Lord. Early every morning she would drive to church so she could pray for her family, church and guidance for each day.
She was a longtime member of Resurrection Ministries, volunteering her time making food to sell, work along side Sister Cruz and others with various fundraisers. Esperanza was the matriarch of her family. She loved everyone unconditionally and often adopted friends as family. Nearly everyone knew her as Mama. She walked very close with the Lord and loved being with her family. Being the Matriarch gave her the power to tell it like it was.
Mama is survived by her children Rose Mary Wilcox, Edwarda de la Torre, Aurelia Logsdon, Eligio Gomez, Ernie Gomez, Matthew Gomez, and Pete Gomez. She is also survived by siblings Jose, Marty and Phillip, 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and her church family. She is preceded in death by her daughter Placida Lee, son Dominic (Ruben) Gomez, her husband Domingo Gomez, siblings Nicholas, Eulalia, Rosa and Mary.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday January 12, 2016 and funeral services will be held at Resurrection Ministries Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Burial will follow at Corcoran Cemetery.
