Funeral Services for Frances Beth Speck were held March 3 at 11 a.m. at Living Christ Church, 2516 N. M St., Tulare. She passed away February 6 at her home in Tulare.
Beth, a former resident of Corcoran, was born in Exeter, California, on November 8, 1938, to Frank and Dorothy Smart. Her early days were spent in Lemon Cove and Exeter before moving to Woodlake. She attended Woodlake schools and graduated from Woodlake High School in 1957. She attended College of Sequoias for a year before marrying Richard Speck, a union that produced two sons, Steven Frank and Scott Richard.
Beth worked in several school districts in the area, retiring from Corcoran Unified in 1999 as Secretary to Superintendent. Shortly after, she moved to Tulare where she spent the rest of her life.
Beth’s life was involved with her church and family. Most importantly was her love for the Lord, her family and friends. She was a leader of several women’s groups, bible studies, and classes establishing relationship boundaries. She touched so many people’s lives but hers in return was touched by many others! She loved to do God’s work and watch it growing in the young women she met and talked with. Beth possessed such soft, sweet ways and was such a gentle soul. There had to be something wrong with a person that did not see this genuine goodness, kindness, and concern.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and her former husband, Richard Speck. She is survived by one sister, Kay Smart and Cheryl (Mo) Modena of Fresno; two terrific sons, Steve Speck of Tulare and Scott Speck of Fowler; three grandchildren, Brittany and Abigail Speck, and Monica (Jason) Whitney; three great-grandchildren, Michael (Cassie) Whitney, C.J. (Lane) Thompson, and Cassie Whitney; one great-great grandson, Jaxson Whitney.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Building Fund at 1255 N. Cherry #562, Tulare, ca. 93274.
