Our lovely mother Francisca Chavez Grijalva Flores passed away on May 14, 2019. She was born in Solomonville, Arizona on December 7, 1920.
She was a long time resident of Corcoran. Her parents were Merejildo and Isabela Chavez Grijalva. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Corcoran. Our mother was 98 years old and we prayed for a little bit more time with her, but the Lord called her home.
She was a loving and giving mom who sacrificed everything for her children. She devoted her life to take care of her children with all her heart.
Though a person of few words, our mom’s actions spoke for her:
–She made tons of fresh tortillas that were gobbled up—what a wonderful mother you were!
–When tragedy struck, we saw you crying and grieving but not with despair; for you had children to take care of—what a strong woman you were!
–When your daughter took you cruising in your son’s convertible and your hair was blowing in the wind—what a happy mother you were!
–When we came to visit you, you always greeted us with a smile and a hug—what a loving mother you were!
–When the grandchildren visited you, you would always give them cookies—what a generous mother you were!
–Thank you mother, we were blessed.
Left with broke hearts are her children in order of birth: Manuela Beltran, Librado Flores (Elena), Merejildo Flores from Corcoran, Elfida Hernandez and Erminia Hunt from Elk Grove, Mariano Flores from Fresno, Esther Morales (Ernest), Gloria Ybarra (Lupe), Josie Andrade (Tony) from Corcoran, Angel Flores from Visalia, Frank Flores, Angie Pacheco, John Flores from Corcoran, Francisca Flores from Visalia, Ramona Flores from Corcoran and Mariana Flores from Visalia. In addition, her 67 grandchildren; 146 great-grandchildren and 63 great-great grandchildren; and her sisters, Pat Estrada from Van Nuys, Conception Ornales from Solomon, Arizona and her brother Richard Grijalva from Van Nuys.
Francisca was preceded in death by her husband, Librado Flores, her daughters, Christina Gonzales and Anita Flores, as well as grandchildren Rosemary Flores, Domingo Ybarra and Abel Andrade.
As per our mother’s wishes, she will be laid to rest next to her mother and father in Solomon, Arizona. Mom, we kept our promise to you and took you back home.
