Jakob Guzman of Corcoran is heading to North Dakota Jan. 2 where he will play for the Minot State Beavers. Guzman earned a full-ride scholarship to play football at Division II Minot State University which is located in Minot, North Dakota.
Jakob is a 2019 graduate of Corcoran High School where he played sports for the Panthers. After graduation he attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia. He played football for the Giants for the past three years. However, last year he suffered a shoulder injury which required surgery so he received a medical red shirt year.
Jakob, who is the son of Monica and Victor Guzman of Corcoran has earned his Associate of Arts degree in Kinesiology from COS and will major in Exercise Science at Minot State. He hopes to earn his Bachelor of Science degree and then return home to secure a job in a Physical Therapy office while pursuing his nursing degree.
Jakob is excited to start the next chapter and credits his parents for supporting him.
“I want to thank them for supporting me through everything especially last year through my injury,” he said. “I am forever grateful.”
