The Corcoran Journal and the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce are looking for the best pies in the community. The annual Thanksgiving Pie Contest will offer Corcoran cash to the top three entries. Entries are being accepted for the contest, which will be held Monday, Nov. 17. Deadline is 2 p.m. All entries need to be brought to the Corcoran Journal office. Entry forms are available at The Journal office at 1012 Hale Ave.
A panel of judges will evaluate each entry on the following criteria:
–Overall appearance;
–Taste and texture of the crust; and
–Taste and texture of the filling.
The contest is open to anyone, with the exception of employees of the newspaper or the Chamber of Commerce. Individuals can submit more than one entry; however, each pie must be submitted with a separate entry form. There is no charge for entries. Each entry must be no less than nine inches in diameter.
Prizes include $100 Corcoran cash for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Winners will be notified on Nov. 18 and will be awarded their prizes that day. The Journal will take photos of the winners and print the winning recipe in the newspaper.
