FFA holds livestock show to prepare for Fair

CORCORAN HIGH FFA and Corcoran 4-H recently held a farm supporters barbecue and Livestock show. CORCORAN HIGH FFA and Corcoran 4-H recently held a farm supporters barbecue and Livestock show.

All of the large animal (goat, cattle, sheep, and swine) showmen from Corcoran FFA and Corcoran 4-H Club were invited to participate in a practice show in preparation for the Kings County Fair. The Kings County Fair will be held June 7-10 in Hanford.
The show was treated as close to a real show as possible with awards sponsored by the FFA Chapter and Advisors Kayde Naylon and Jon Spreng. The Head of Animal Science for College of the Sequoias, Russell McKeith and four of his second year animal science students served as judges. Corcoran 4-H leaders and members served as the ring crew and award distribution team. Following the show the Corcoran FFA Boosters sponsored a barbecue for all members, families, and guests.

Novice-Mikayla Raudales. 
Advanced-Misty Gomez.
--Sheep:
Novice-Emma Vargas.
Advanced-Haley Nolta.
--Beef: Madison Thomas.
--Dairy: Rachel Berry.
“It was a great day to practice, prepare and get excited about the Kings County Fair,” said Advisor Kayde Naylon.
Over 70 students from Corcoran FFA and Corcoran 4-H will participate in nine different species at the Kings County Fair. The Junior livestock auction will be held Saturday, June 9 and will start at 9 a.m. The community is encouraged to attend the fair and support their local youth.
