Local man arrested for murder

An argument led to the murder of a much loved local transient woman. On St. Patrick’s Day in the 1000 block of Norboe Corcoran Police Officers were called to a residence at 5:32 p.m. for a female fall victim. Upon arrival, officers located Rosie Gomez, 50, of Corcoran suffering from severe injuries to her head, which appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma. Gomez was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.An argument led to the murder of a much loved local transient woman. On St. Patrick’s Day in the 1000 block of Norboe Corcoran Police Officers were called to a residence at 5:32 p.m. for a female fall victim. Upon arrival, officers located Rosie Gomez, 50, of Corcoran suffering from severe injuries to her head, which appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma. Gomez was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.At the scene officers contacted Jimmie Palmer, 29, of Corcoran and following an investigation by the Corcoran Police Department and the Kings County Major Crime Task Force; he was later arrested and charged with homicide.Through the follow up investigation which included the service of search warrants and multiple interviewsPalmer was identified as the suspect. The investigation revealed Palmer and Gomez had been hanging out in a shed in the back yard of the residence, which was owned by Palmer’s mother. An argument ensued between the two and during the argument Palmer became angry and violently assaulted Gomez. According to Deputy Chief Gary Cramer it is believed that Palmer was under the influence of a controlled substance when he assaulted Gomez. An analysis will be done on the unknown weapons which may have been used in the attack but numerous tools and objects were seized, added Deputy Chief Cramer.Palmer was arrested for homicide and booked into the Kings County Jail, where he is being held on $5,025,000.00 bail. The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have information regarding this homicide is encouraged  to contact Cpl.
