Jacqulyn Kay (Doran) White died at home in Laton, CA on Feb. 7, after a two-and-a-half year battle with brain cancer. She was 58 years old.
White is survived by numerous relatives and loved ones. Immediate family members include two daughters, Haley and Lindsay White (from former marriage to Douglas White) and siblings Kenny Doran, Bob and Connie Doran, and Wilma Giles.
White was born in Corcoran, CA on Apr. 9, 1958 to Bethel and Ollie Doran. She graduated Corcoran High School in 1976 and earned her Associate’s Degree at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA in 1992. While raising her children, White worked primarily in administration for Kings County Office of Education and Corcoran Unified School District. In the early 2000s, she continued her education at California State University, Fresno, earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communicative Disorders-Speech Pathology in 2004 and 2006, respectively. White initially practiced speech therapy at Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital in Visalia, then returned to the education field, where she worked as a speech therapist in various school settings throughout the Central Valley. She retired not long after her 2014 stage 4 glioblastoma diagnosis.
White was a member of the South Valley Community Church and a devout Christian. She volunteered on local community boards and was a regular donor to several charitable organizations. She loved spending time with friends and family at Bass Lake, Shaver Lake, and the Central Coast. She enjoyed outdoor activities, shopping, live music, wine tasting, and was a ‘foodie’ throughout her sickness. Her motto near the end of life was, “Love, Love, Love.”
Graveside services were held yesterday (Wednesday) at Corcoran District Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, White requested donations to be sent to Alzheimer’s or brain cancer research organizations.
