Services were held Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church for LaVeta Cavin, who died Oct. 5 in Hanford.

Mrs. Cavin was born in Arkansas August 8, 1928. She worked with her husband Wayne as a truck driver for 25 years. She was a long time member of First Missionary Baptist Church.


Survivors include her husband of 69 years Wayne; two daughters, Louise Nichols of Sanger and Judy Cavin Brown of Santa Cruz; 2 sons-in-law; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 9 at Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel from 4-7 p.m.

Cookie, fudge contest winners

The Corcoran Journal and Corcoran Chamber cookie and fudge contest winners were chosen last week. The cookie contest was decided by just one point and taking home first place was Tiffany Singleton who submitted snickerdoodles. In second place in the cookie contest was Patti Rodriguez who won with her Raspberry Ribbon Cookies.
