Corcoran resident and Sonoma State baseball player Ryan Luna has been named Seawolf of the Week for his performance last Friday against Cal State Stanislaus. Sonoma hosted Stanislaus at Seawolf Diamond at Rohnert Park.
In game one of the double header, Sonoma came from behind to claim a 7-5 victory. Luna was on the mound in game two and threw a no-hitter in seven innings. It was the school’s first no-hitter in nearly 10 years. The last time that happened for Sonoma State was April 30, 2005. Luna claimed the 7-0 win and his father Herman Luna Sr. and other family members were lucky enough to be in attendance.
Luna also earned additional honors which include being named CCAA pitcher of the week and the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association (NCBWA) Division II West Region Pitcher of the Week.
