Imagine coming home to find a strange person in your house—in the process of a burglary. That’s what happened Thursday afternoon, when officers from the Corcoran Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Sherman Ave.

At approximately 3:45, the department received the call of a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found Ronnie Mora, age 33, of Corcoran, in front of a residence and being detained by two individuals. They were told Mora broke into the residence and was confronted by the homeowners, who returned shortly after Mora entered the home.

Mora allegedly assaulted the homeowner with a garden tool after he was confronted. He was detained inside the residence following a significant struggle. He was then taken outside and held until officers arrived. He has been charged with burglary and with assault with a deadly weapon for using a shovel in the altercation.
