A local man died in a fire at his mobile home Monday, June 20 at approximately 5:33 a.m. Corcoran Police Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Whitley Avenue regarding a structure fire. Upon arrival officers located a single-family residence that was fully engulfed with flames. Neighboring residences were evacuated as a safety measure due to the nature of the scene. Kings County Fire personnel along with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fire responded and attended to the fire.
Once the residence was deemed safe officers located a deceased subject inside of the residence. Kings County Arson Investigators responded to further investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
The deceased man has been identified as Arthur “Art” Navarro, 62, of Corcoran. Services for Navarro have been scheduled and will be held in July. Visitation and Rosary will be held July 21 from 3-5 p.m. at the Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel and Mass services will be held July 22 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with interment at Corcoran District Cemetery.
Although there is currently no indication of foul play, this is an ongoing investigation and anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact Officer Salas at (559)992-5151.
