Funeral services were held Thursday, July 21, for Oscar Edwardo Palomares, 29, who died Saturday, July 16 of suspected drowning at Lake Nacimiento in San Luis Obispo County.
Palomares’ body was recovered Sunday.
According to the San Luis sheriff’s office, witnesses reported hearing a distressed man call out while swimming in the lake near the Sandy Point campground. This occurred at about 11:15 a.m. Saturday. They reported seeing the man go under water.
The sheriff’s department dive team, the Monterey County parks and a California Highway Patrol helicopter assisted with the search and recovery of the body. There was no indication of foul play, but an autopsy was scheduled for yesterday (Wednesday) to determine the manner and cause of death.
Visitation for Palomares, a native of Allende, Jalisco, Mexico, was held Wednesday, July 20, at the Bledsoe Family People’s Funeral Chapel from 3-6 p.m. A rosary was recited at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 7 p.m.
He graduated from Corcoran High School in 2005 before graduating from Mesa College in San Diego in 2010. He worked as a controller.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, with burial following at the Corcoran Cemetery.
Palomares is survived by two daughters, Julissa and Jazleen; his parents, Everardo Palomares and Luz Osoria; and siblings Jessica Palomares and Everardo Palomares, Jr.
