Funeral services were held Thursday, April 2 at 10 a.m. in the Corcoran Apostolic Church for Reynaldo “Cando” Chavez, 81, of Corcoran who died March 25.
Mr. Chavez was born May 30, 1933 in Solomon, Arizona to Marcos and Luz Chavez. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged and then went to work for Curti and Sons Dairy, where he worked for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Rick Chavez, Leonard Chavez Sr.; grandson, Gabriel Chavez; his parents; and siblings, Robert Chavez, Joe Chavez, Isabel Chavez and Mary Helen Burden.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Chavez of Corcoran; his son, David Chavez of Corcoran; three brothers, Ramon Chavez of Bakersfield and Pete and Louie Chavez, both of Corcoran; three sisters, Lily Orosco, Stella Martinez and Sally Alaniz, all of Corcoran; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 1 from 5-8 p.m. at the Corcoran Apostolic Church. Following funeral services Thursday, interment was at Corcoran District Cemetery.
