4-3 win in extra time over Granite Hills helped the Corcoran High varsity girls’ soccer team move into second place in the East Sequoia League.
The Lady Panthers started off slow against Granite Hills, according to Coach Victor Ochoa. Down 2-0 in the beginning of the game but played hard and pulled out the win, he added.
Jackie Rojas scored two goals and the other two were scored by Mylene Moran. Ochoa also credited other players with good performances including Becky Castillo who controlled the midfield and distributed the ball well. Lesley Alvarez, Julissa Lopez, Yenifer Cerda and Natalie Mendoza also did a greta job defending especially in the second half.
Ochoa also gave the nod to goalkeeper Isabel Solorzano who had some key saves that helped seal the victory.
I JV action, the ladies beat Granite Hills 2-1. Goals were scored by Leah Holquin and Yehtzel Rojas. Alejandra Valencia did an excellent job defending and was one of the main reasons GHHS did not get a chance to score. Also, goalkeeper Ivon Castaneda had a handful of great serves which contributed to the win.
