The Fall season of sport saw the Panthers claim varsity league championships in boys’ cross country and girls’ tennis. Coach Ramirez’ cross country team captured the boys’ league title in dominating fashion, ending the season the following weekend in second place in the Division 3 Valley Championships. The CHS girls’ cross country squad also ended the season as the Division 4 Valley Runner up, losing the valley title by a mere 3 points.  The CHS girls’ tennis team ended the league season undefeated at 10 - 0 and 18 - 1 overall. The Panthers lost in the quarterfinals to eventual D3 champion, Mission Prep.
The winter season once again proved to be the most challenging for the Panthers as the CHS wrestling team was the only squad to win a varsity league championship. Coach Saldana’s grapplers came back in strong fashion at the league championships and were able to catch Granite Hills in the standings. This was the fourth consecutive league title for the CHS wrestling team that saw Brock Rogers win the Division 2 Valley Title at 145 pounds.
The just completed spring season of sport proved the be the most rewarding for CHS as the CHS girls’ swim team won their second league championship in the past three years, going undefeated in league play, followed by a dominating performance at the ESL Championship Meet in Strathmore. The CHS boys’ and girls’ track teams swept all of their dual meets and the ESL League Championships held in Corcoran. In addition, a number of CHS Panther track members qualified for the Area Meet and the Masters Valley Meet this past weekend.
With their six league titles, the Panthers tied with Sierra Pacific (Hanford) for the most varsity league titles for the 2018 - 2019 school year, although CHS competes in two less sports than their northern counterparts.
The Panthers are looking to maintain their athletic success in the coming year with a number of freshmen, JV and varsity programs working out and practicing over the summer. All incoming 8th graders begin their high school careers as eligible candidates for sports at CHS and are encouraged to get involved in one or more sports as a means to build social, athletic and communication skills. Summer weight room and practice schedules will be posted in The Journal in the coming weeks.
