CUSD Star Students
Corcoran Unified School District recently named their Star Students for the second quarter. One Star Student is chosen from each of the local school sites. Students are chosen based on over-all improvement, character and other criteria. The students are nominated by their teachers.
CUSD posts response sheet on social media
In an effort to stem the rumors that have battered social media pages in recent weeks, the local school district has taken the exceptional step of responding to them. Corcoran Unified posted a “correct information” position sheet on its Facebook page; the same response appeared on the Corcoran High School Twitter account.
CUSD recognizes employees of the year

Corcoran Unified School District recently named its top employees for the 2016-2017 school year. The district selects an administrator, a teacher, a classified employee and also selects a volunteer of the year. The winners were selected from a list of nominees. Corcoran’s selections will be submitted to the Kings County Office of Education as consideration for employees of the year for the county. CUSD chooses top employees and volunteer
Danielle Alvarez claims to enjoy everything about her job, especially playing with the budget, moving funds around and seeing how it all flows. That is a good thing as she is the school district’s administrative assistant/fiscal services and her main job is to prepare the district’s financial statements.
CUSD facility improvements
Over the past summer, Corcoran Unified School District invested close to $5 million in improvements to aging school buildings. Planning has already begun to spend another $6 million on facilities improvements for next summer.
CUSD Star Students

Each quarter, the Corcoran Unified School District honors outstanding students from each school site with the Star Student award. Students are nominated by staff for a variety of achievements. The first awards for the 2015-2016 school year were made during last week’s regular school board meeting. Those winners included:
