Tom Allyn Ayers left this earthly realm on Friday, July 28, at home surrounded by his loved ones just a few days short of his 87th birthday.
He was born on August 3, 1930 in Oakland, California and spent most of his formative years in Morgan Hill. While attending “The Farm” (UC Davis), he met Marian Ruth Miller. He was a Cal Aggie Flying Farmer and she worked in the airport office at Davis, California in 1950. They married in the chapel of Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi in May of 1952. After starting a career with P.G.& E. in Bakersfield with later stints in Merced and Chowchilla, he brought his family to Corcoran in 1971 to manage the P.G.& E. offices here and in Lemoore. He was a past president of the Corcoran Rotary Club and a dedicated member for many years. After retiring from P.G.& E. in 1988, he started a business of testing back-flow valves and had clients all over the central valley. He also taught certification classes for the state of California. He enjoyed this second career very much and appreciated working with many Corcoran business owners. He was preceded in death by his first-born daughter Jeanne Ayers (aka: Morena Faust) in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 65 years; daughters, Polly Ayers of Corcoran, and Nancy Ayers of Santa Paula, California. Also surviving him are his two grandchildren, Wynde Dyer of Portland, Oregon, and Arthur Marston of Reno, Nevada. While there may be a celebration of life at a future date, no services are scheduled at this time.
