Two Corcoran residents were arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting last week. Wednesday, February 1 at 2 a.m., Corcoran Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Orange and
Dairy Avenues regarding gun shots being heard. Upon arrival, Officers located a 23-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began administering first aid and the victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Corcoran Police Detectives responded and took over the investigation.
It was learned that a 4-door sedan had pulled in front of the residence. The sedan was occupied by a male driver and a female front passenger. The male driver shot at the victim multiple times, striking him twice. Corcoran Detectives identified the male as Gregory Barrera, 20, and the female as Jessica Renteria, 22. Detectives authored arrest warrants for both subjects which were signed by a judge.
On February 3, 2023, a Kings County Sheriff Deputy located and arrested Renteria in the City of Corcoran. On the same day, Corcoran Detectives located Barrera in the City of Fresno. With the assistance of the Kings County Major Crimes Task Force, Barrera was taken into custody.
Both subjects were booked into the Kings County Jail. Renteria was booked on her warrant for being in violation of attempted murder and conspiracy and is being held on $2,500,000.00 bail. Barrera was booked for being in violation of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, shooting from a vehicle, conspiracy, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is currently being held on $1,330,000.00 bail.
