A pair of robberies in the downtown area occurred within five days and is keeping the Corcoran Police Department at high alert as investigations continue.

Officers were called to the Shell station mini-mart in the 1200 block of Whitley Ave. at about 5:20 a.m. Thursday morning, after receiving a report of an armed robber. Officers were told two masked men entered the store and held the clerk at gun point while demanding cash. The clerk opened the cash register and one of the male suspects took an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects then fled the scene. Both were wearing dark clothes and no other description was given. Just five days earlier, on Saturday, Sept. 23, a lone robber entered the Sunshine Donuts shop in the 900 block of Whitley Ave. and stole the business cash register. The suspect was masked, but apparently not armed and was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. After fleeing the store, the suspect left the scene in a white pick-up truck. Anyone with information regarding the two robberies is asked to contact Sgt. John Harris at 469-7248 or the Corcoran Police Department at 992-5151. Anyone witnessing suspicious subjects and activity is encouraged to call 911.
