Yesterday (Wednesday) March 8 at 3:56 p.m., Corcoran officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Whitley Avenue (Rite Aid) for a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle. The caller reported seeing the subject holding a firearm. Upon arrival, officers located Christopher Martinez, 33, of Corcoran and Gabriel Pelayo, 28, of Corcoran inside a van. Officers located a loaded 9 mm handgun in the door where Martinez was sitting and a loaded firearm in the back seat area where Pelayo was located. The firearm in the back seat did not have a serial number. Officers later learned Martinez is a previously convicted felon and prohibited form possession firearms. They also discovered Martinez was in possession of cocaine. Martinez was transported and booked into the Corcoran Police Department Jail for the charges of Felon in possession of a firearm, Felon in possession of ammunition, Possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle and Possession of Cocaine. He was later transported and booked into the Kings County Jail where his bail was set at $75,000.00. Charges are being sought on Pelayo for being in possession of a ghost gun, and possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
