The Corcoran High cross country team competed in the Dewitt Invitational which was held in Madera Saturday. Although some team members have been ill, Coach Isaias Ramirez says his team is doing fine.
“Our team has been affected by the stomach flu but it’s not hurting our results,” he added.
The varsity boys’ team finished the day in third place overall and the Small Schools Champion.
The key to Corcoran’s performance was the running of Carl Inac (9:55), Arnoldo Villañueva (9:55) and Christian Gonzalez (9:55), added Ramirez.
“They were solid today and it allowed us to beat some really good teams,” Coach Ramirez noted.
Also doing extremely well were Jonathan Matson (9:10) and Pedro Perez (9:37) who placed Top 15 in the race.
In varsity girls’ action, the Lady Panthers finished third in the Smalls Schools Division.
“We had some great performances from Dulce Beas (11:52), Roxana Lule (11:58), Kayla Gutierrez (12:46), and Victoria Cota (12:58), he said. “We came back with ten medalists.”
Those who medaled this weekend included Arnoldo Villañueva, Carl Inac, Christian Gonzalez, Eliseo Mendez, Jonathan Matson, Pedro Perez, Cesar Angulo, Kayla Gutierrez, Dulce Beas and Roxana Lule.
