Supervisor Richard Valle launches water campaign

Two Kings County supervisors last week hand-delivered a letter to The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation protesting the five percent water allocation approved for Central Valley farmers from the Central Valley Project. The letter was approved by the board April 12 and taken to Sacramento by Supervisors Richard Valle of Corcoran and Craig Peterson of Hanford.

City watering schedule changes

Just in time for the weather warm-up, the City of Corcoran has loosened its outdoor watering schedule. With council approval of a new resolution last week, residents and other users can begin watering outside landscaping two times per week.

Measure K to make public safety a priority

Boswell 5K Fun Run

Registration is underway for the Boswell Games 5K Fun Run and Walk, which will be held Saturday, May 14. The race will begin at 7 a.m. at the Recreation Association of Corcoran (RAC), 900 Dairy Avenue.

American Legion Post #144 of Corcoran has announced its scholarship program. Each year, the post will present a scholarship to a deserving Corcoran High School student and each year the post will honor a different local veteran when making the award.

HERO PACE to help homeowners

During last week’s regular city council meeting, the council voted to make the HERO Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program available to local residents. HERO PACE financing enables homeowners to make energy and water efficiency improvements and pay for them over time through their property tax bill. HERO payments may have tax benefits and homeowners may see immediate savings on utility bills.
